Security Technologies Evaluation & Certification Center
Advanced security technologies are increasingly implemented to counter growing terror threats. To be truly effective and efficient, they must overcome limitations in their throughput and false positive rates. However, the detection rates of these systems are not dependent only on the technology used, but also on their accurate calibration, on the quality of their operators and on the procedures and protocols they follow.
To assist regulators and other security bodies in attaining a high success rate in the detection of explosives, Tamar's experts have established a Technologies Evaluation & Certification Center. This Center, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, is supported by specialists in the field of explosives, evaluation and certification of security technologies, threat assessment, risk management and data analysis. The activities carried out at the Center are governed by well-defined procedures and evaluation protocols devised specifically for each of a variety of technologies, and are conducted in compliance with the highest standards.
The Center provides the following services:
- Determination of the configuration of materials specified in threat definitions.
- Definition of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), based on previously determined configurations of explosive materials.
- Determination of threat scenarios and contamination levels for the evaluation of Explosives Detection Systems (EDS), Explosives Trace Detection (ETD) systems and other relevant technologies.
- Development of libraries comprising replications of explosive devices used in actual terror attacks or attempted attacks, covering various scenarios.
- Pre-certification tests for detection technologies.
- Development of calibration, testing and evaluation procedures and protocols specifically for each type of technological explosives detection system.
