Field services

Tamar Explosivesֲ operates a mobile laboratory equipped with highly sophisticated testing equipment, enabling the company to provide its clients with advanced on-site services in the field of explosives.

These services include:

High Speed Video Data Recording and Image Processing

We utilize highly advanced photography equipment is capable of capturing images at a speed of up to 250,000 f/sec. The complementary motion analysis software enables synchronizing data channels and video footage for a variety of purposes: mapping the pressure-related parameters of explosions scenes; measuring the velocities of fragmentation, bullets, rockets and the like; measuring detonation velocities and detonator delay times; and other pyrotechnical elements.

Velocity of Detonation (VOD) Measurement

Our mobile lab equipment performs VOD measurements (measurement of the detonation front's advancement speed), implementing the short calibrated wire method. This method is based on the principle that the resistance of the wire varies as a function of the detonation wave's advancement rate. The resistance is sampled using a unique measurement system, and the advancement rate is translated into the velocity of detonation. This field service allows performing VOD measurements of detonation cords, detonations in boreholes etc., as well as analyzing explosions to determine the extent of damage specific IEDs will cause, testing blast mitigation elements andֲ more.

Shock Wave Measurements

The effect of shock waves resulting from the detonation of explosives is measured using Tamar's mobile lab's 8-channel scope and PCB gauges. These accurate instruments enable measuring pressure values ranging from 0 to 500 PSI at a sampling rate of 1 MHz. The results may be presented in Excel format and also as an image that can be displayed using word processors.

The precise measurements of the effects of shock waves are an important component in the analysis of different types of explosive materials and IEDs and their blast intensities.
